Falcons Mercedes-Benz Stadium Hits The Under Most In NFL
Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

The NFL season is still a ways away, but dedicated fans and bettors across the nation always have football on the mind. With so much time and energy focused on finding out who will win, which players to draft in fantasy and who is going to cover the spread most, the summertime is not usually a time to think about game point totals. And when they do cross a bettor’s mind, they likely are focused on the high scoring games that go over the Vegas total.

Perhaps more profitable, if not as exciting, is identifying which games and teams will play to the under more often. With this underutilized market in mind, BetGeorgia decided to break quickly from Georgia sports betting updates and take a look back at all NFL over/under results from the past ten seasons, utilizing data from SportsOddHistory.com, to see which current stadiums have hit the most unders.

Top NFL Stadiums for Under Bettors Since 2013

This data includes all regular season games, playoff games and Super Bowls played at the given stadium. We instituted a five-year minimum in the research, excluding Allegiant Stadium and SoFi Stadium from the list.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium Hits Under Most

Seeing such traditionally high-flying teams as the Chiefs and Falcons have their stadiums rank so high on the list comes as a surprise initially, considering those teams often score a ton of points. However, this isn’t a ranking of which games see the least points, but a ranking of which teams go under the Vegas total the most. With many teams that play in the stadiums at the top of the list being strong offensive squads, Vegas will have the totals of their games much higher than others.

While they have been less successful in recent years, the Falcons have been one of the higher-scoring teams of the past decade with former QB Matt Ryan quarterbacking a high-flying offense that made it to the Super Bowl in 2017. With this strong offense, the over/unders for their games were often much higher than for other teams, making it no surprise that the games often couldn’t keep up, checking in with a 30-19 record for the over, enough to put Mercedes-Benz Stadium at the top of the list.

As this list also includes Super Bowl game totals, Mercedes-Benz Stadium was home to an extremely low-scoring affair in 2019 as the New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3. The total going in was 55.5 and the over never had a chance, starting a run of four consecutive Super Bowls that hit the under.

While the Falcons are once again supposed to be bad, Georgia bettors still have a route to profitability, especially for home games. They once again hit the under more often last year and if history is any indication there will be more unders in store in Atlanta this year.
