On the heels of a disappointing 2024-25 campaign where the Atlanta Hawks flamed out in the NBA’s Play-In Tournament, it’s worth wondering what new GM Onsi Saleh will do with star guard Trae Young this offseason. With that in mind, BetGeorgia.com compiled some odds on where the veteran of 483 games will go next, with Atlanta still holding commanding odds of keeping the 26-year-old in the fold for the year ahead across Georgia sports betting.

Where Will Trae Young Go Next?

With Young in the middle of his “Super Max” deal with the Hawks that’s worth $215,159,700 over five seasons (running through 2026-27), there’s no immediate need for Saleh and his staff to move on from the team’s star guard should they want to build around him this offseason.

That’s the reason why we’re still giving the Hawks +175 odds of keeping Young around for the 2025-26 NBA season, as he’s owed a salary cap hit of $45,999,660 this year and $48,967,380 next year, though upstart teams like the Orlando Magic (+700) and Miami Heat (+800) could be options for Saleh to consider should he opt to move on from the former Oklahoma Sooners star.

While Young’s stat line was down a bit versus his career averages in 2024-25, he still managed to connect on 41.1% of his field goals (and 34% of his threes), while producing a Player Efficiency Rating of 18.3 and 5.7 win shares in 76 games played.

All of that is to say that there should be plenty of suitors should Saleh opt to trade Young this offseason, with teams like the Magic and Heat being frontrunners to do just that while trade-happy NBA teams like the Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns (+1100 each) or the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings (+1250 each) could possibly make a move for the 26-year-old before the NBA tips off its 2025-26 regular season this fall.
